About the Partnership
Shopify's Shop app is where millions of people discover and buy from thousands of independent merchants in one place. Its 'Minis' let partners build focused mini-apps directly inside Shop — native experiences that extend what shoppers can do without leaving the app.
Quizell partnered with Shopify to build one: a personal shopper that lives inside Shop. Instead of asking shoppers to browse endless grids across countless stores, the Mini learns who they are once, then does the hunting for them — scanning across the Shop marketplace and returning a tight, personalized set of products in seconds. It's Quizell's personalization-and-conversion engine, brought to one of commerce's largest surfaces.

Focus: Personalization & conversion
The Challenge
Marketplace discovery is a paradox: the more choice you offer, the harder it gets to choose. A shopper opening Shop has thousands of merchants and a near-infinite catalog at their fingertips — and no fast way to cut it down to the handful of products that actually fit them. The problems this partnership set out to solve:
Choice overload. With thousands of merchants and endless products, shoppers face decision fatigue before they ever reach the right item.
Generic discovery. Standard browsing doesn't know a shopper's size, budget, style, or preferences — so it can't shortlist for them.
Repetition. Shoppers re-enter the same context (size, fit, budget) every time they shop, instead of the app remembering who they are.
Speed expectations. Mobile shoppers want an answer now — not a scroll marathon.
The goal: a personal shopper that feels like a knowledgeable friend — one who already knows your taste and can point you to the right products across the whole marketplace, instantly.
The Solution
Quizell built the Personal Shopping Mini inside Shop: a persistent shopping profile plus a short, quiz-like flow that together turn 'I want to buy something' into a curated, cross-merchant shortlist in under ten seconds.
A profile that shops for you: At the heart of the Mini is a reusable shopping profile. Set once, it captures the things that make a recommendation right for you: gender, shoe and apparel sizes, fit preference, preferred colors, style, budget range, interests, and favorite footwear types. From then on, every shopping session starts from a rich understanding of the shopper — no re-entering the basics, ever.
A quiz-like personal shopping flow: When a shopper is ready to buy, a focused four-step flow narrows intent without friction:
What are you shopping for? — a top-level category (Women, Men, Electronics, Beauty, Home, Fitness, Pets, Toys).
Choose a subcategory — dynamically filtered to that category (e.g. T-Shirts, Jeans, Shoes, Accessories, Activewear, Outerwear).
Style & preferences — the shopper's saved profile is surfaced for one-tap confirmation ('Size: L/M · Fit: oversized · Colors: Black, Blue · Style: Classic, Minimal & clean'), with the option to adjust on the spot.
Budget for this purchase — use the profile budget, or pick a range for this specific buy.
Because the profile does the heavy lifting, the flow stays short — four steps, not fourteen — which is exactly why completion runs high.
Cross-merchant recommendations in seconds: The moment the shopper finishes, the Mini scans across the Shop marketplace and returns a 'Recommended For You' shortlist — products matched to both the session's intent and the shopper's profile, drawn from many different merchants, not a single store. From there they can save the result, refine and search again, or add to cart. What would have been a long browse across dozens of stores becomes a curated set delivered in seconds.
A native Shop experience: The whole thing runs natively inside Shop as a Mini — Quizell-powered, Shopify-native — so it feels like a first-class part of the app rather than a bolt-on.
The Full Story
The idea behind the partnership was simple: the best personal shopper doesn't hand you a bigger catalog — it hands you the right three things. Quizell's specialty is exactly that translation, from messy intent to a confident recommendation, and Shop was the perfect surface to prove it at marketplace scale.
The team started with the profile. Most quiz experiences ask everything every time; this one asks once. By persisting size, fit, style, budget, and preferences, the Mini turns each future session into a two-decision task — category and subcategory — while still personalizing deeply. It's the difference between a store clerk who's never met you and a personal shopper who already knows your closet.
Then came the matching. Rather than searching one merchant, the Mini reasons across the Shop marketplace, weighing the shopper's profile and their in-session choices to assemble a shortlist from whichever merchants fit best. Thousands of candidate products are considered; a handful are shown. And it happens fast — the experience is built to return picks in seconds, because on mobile, hesitation is abandonment.
The result is a personal shopper that feels effortless to the user and, underneath, is doing serious personalization work on every tap — the clearest possible demonstration of what Quizell does: turn personalization into conversion, on any surface a client can imagine.
Why This Works
The profile removes friction permanently. Capturing size, fit, budget, and style once means every future session is fast. Shoppers get deep personalization without the repetitive setup that kills quiz completion.
Curation beats catalog. Scanning thousands of products to show a confident few is the entire value of a personal shopper. Less choice, better matched, converts better than more choice.
Cross-merchant matching is a superpower. Because the Mini reasons across the marketplace rather than one store, it can genuinely find the best fit — something a single-brand experience can't do.
Speed is the feature. Sub-ten-second recommendations respect mobile attention spans and turn browsing intent into add-to-cart action before the shopper loses momentum.
It's native, not bolted on. Living inside Shop as a Mini means the experience carries the trust and fluidity of the host app — Quizell-powered, Shopify-native.
A Blueprint You Can Replicate
This Mini is a flagship example of a pattern any Quizell client can deploy: a persistent shopper profile + a short intent quiz + dynamic, personalized recommendations. The surface here happens to be the Shop app and the scope happens to be an entire marketplace — but the same engine powers personalized product finders inside individual Shopify and WooCommerce stores every day.
That's the real takeaway. Quizell isn't a single template; it's a flexible personalization-and-conversion layer that adapts to the client's surface, catalog, and goals — from a boutique's storefront quiz to a platform-scale personal shopper built with Shopify itself. If you can describe the experience, Quizell can build it.

Why It Matters
The Shop Mini shows the full range of what Quizell does. The specialization is constant — personalization that drives conversion — but the surface is limitless. A profile that shops for you, an intent quiz that takes seconds, and cross-merchant recommendations delivered instantly: that's a personal shopper, built with Shopify, and a blueprint any brand can bring to its own store.
Personalization is the product. Conversion is the outcome. Quizell adapts to the rest.
"Discovery at marketplace scale is one of the hardest problems in commerce — the more merchants and products we bring together in Shop, the more shoppers need help finding the right thing. That's exactly why we partnered with Quizell. They built a personal shopper that learns who a shopper is once, then does the searching for them across the whole marketplace in seconds. It feels native to Shop, it converts, and it's a great example of what's possible when a personalization partner can adapt to a surface as big as ours."
